The Happy Body: The Simple Science of Nutrition, Exercise, and Relaxation
Product Description
Becoming lean and fit is not a matter of training for a few weeks, like Rocky, to become a world champion. That only happens in Hollywood movies that portray professional athletes exercising for hours every day until they re exhausted. Real athletes never do that. They train only to the point that they can recover for the next day s training. Their progress comes in small increments, not heroic triumphs. Unfortunately, movies have persuaded people that they can become lean and fit virtually overnight. Even the weight loss and fitness industry bought into this distortion and began pushing people to become like Rocky. When that approach failed, because people were injuring themselves or burning out or jumping from one program to another, trainers began to entertain their clients instead of finding solutions to their problems. If you want to become truly lean and fit, you must work at it like an athlete, following a structured routine and that is easier and m… More >>
The Happy Body: The Simple Science of Nutrition, Exercise, and Relaxation

The most interesting and to me the most significant aspect of the book is the concept of exercising every day. Not 5 days or 6 days a week but every day.
In 30 to 40 minutes each day you can detect changes in aerobic capacity, flexibility and strength. The book in colorful detail explains how to accomplish
this. It also encourages a life style change in order to accomplish your fitness goals. It’s obvious from the photographs that Jerzy and Aniela are living
the program they espouse in the book. I have one caveat. Everyone, in my opionion, is not able to progress at the pace outlined in the book. My own formula
has been to listen to my body and slow down or take more time to go from one level to the next. I have had personal instruction from the Gregorek’s and
in my opinion a careful reading of the book and strict adherence to the instruction will accomplish as much as personal sessions with the authors.
The Happy Body book provides a comprehensive explanation of an effective way of living a healthy and balanced life. Following the Happy Body program, I lost the 30+ pounds I’d gained with my third daughter and am now in the best shape I’ve been … probably ever! Convinced that at 5′9″ I’d be a size 8/10 forever, I’m now a 4/6 thanks to finding The Happy Body and understanding that being “in shape” isn’t about dieting and exercise, it’s about a way of living that has me standing straighter and paying closer attention to my body and my overall health. I’m stronger, leaner and happier because of The Happy Body – the numbers they give you for testing the results don’t lie.
I love the recipes in this book. They’re delicious and healthy and creative. A few of them I’ll make on the weekends and then refrigerate to eat throughout the week for lunch (the Palak Paneer is great for this).
Get this book and give it a read…it’s a beautiful book with loads of great information, detailed descriptions, and well-grounded resources.
THB shows step by step how to safely lift weights. Amazingly the Gregorek’s approach which focuses on form & technique is unique in their field. One would think that learning to lift weights safely would be the major emphasis of weight training & body building approaches. But, this is not true. One would think that this is the emphasis of physical therapy & fitness “bibles”, but this is not true. This book shows in the clearest way why form and technique are so important and how to prepare yourself to transform your fitness. The Gregorek’s are true fitness gurus.

I just received my copy of “The Happy Body”, my family and I perused our copy while at home over a family lunch. Immediately upon opening the package we were all so impressed with the quality of book. First, it is assembled much like a text book but with beautiful photographs and illustrations to support the excellent yet very readable content. The book’s assembly mirrors an instructional design aimed at captivating the reader’s interest, supporting the material with excellent examples and testimonials from clients who have used the methods recommended and a step-wise guide for improving your total health (mind, body and spirit) through flexibility, strength training and healthy nutrition. Each of these areas are explored in great detail across numerous chapters in the book. An added bonus of the book contains photographs of the Gregorek’s performing each of the movements and the final portion of the book is devoted to improving our health through nutrition and this section provides some excellent recipes for achieving this outcome.
I am an olympic style weightlifter now in my 50’s and I can attest to the knowledge and level of expertise of the authors as they are accomplished athletes and practitioners well-trained in the scientific and pedagogical elements of physical culture. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their overall health. I look forward to using it to increase the quality of my life and I thank the author’s for sharing their expertise through such a fine book with all of us.
